About

Amanda Maynard - Counselling and Clinical Psychologist

Experience -

I have worked for 15+ years across not for profit and private practice settings, providing individual therapy, couples therapy, along with designing and delivering group therapy programs. During this time I have supported people with anxiety, depression, trauma, self-esteem issues, relationship challenges, grief and loss and life transitions.

Approach and Therapeutic Modalities

I prioritise creating a space where clients feel safe, so that together we can create a plan to help them realise their goals of therapy. As each client is unique, the models utilised will vary according to client needs, I focus on finding a therapy (using a combination of the below models) that will fit the client as opposed to trying to make a client fit a particular therapy model.

Modalities include: Schema Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Interpersonal Process Therapy, Existential Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Self Compassion Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitation Reprocessing (EMDR) and for couples work Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy and Gottman Therapy.

I believe a different therapy must be constructed for each patient, because each has a unique story” Irvin Yalom - Psychotherapist
